NEW MODELS FOR DETERMINISTIC MIXED-MODEL ASSEMBLY LINE BALANCING PROBLEMS (Ph.D. Thesis) Hadi GÖKÇEN GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SEPTEMBER 1994 ABSTRACT In this study, mixed-model deterministic assembly line balancing problems are investigated. Currently available optimal solution techniques for mixed-model assemly line balancing problems reported in the literature are analyzed and alternative models are suggested to solve the problem. In addition, a heuristic solution procedure is also developed and tested on problems with 10, 20, 30, 40 and 60 tasks and various F-ratios. Finally, a 0-1 Goal programming model of the problem is constructed; the goal programming model provides multiobjectives to the decision maker. In the dissertation, the binary models are constructed and solved with GAMS package program; the heuristic procedure is coded in FORTRAN language. n
