Özet (EN)
In this research, the principles of cartographic map design, which make the maps to be designed more useful for the users, are discussed. There is no study in our country that covers these principles completely. This is due to the lack of standards in the design of maps produced in our country. Design rules should be applied to all maps produced. A map that does not have a good design and presentation does not feature a map that is suitable for its purpose, no matter how accurate the content is. People from different disciplines, especially across the country, produce many maps on different topics and almost all of these maps produced were created without considering the design rules. Especially with the development of GIS and CAD technologies, map production and usage has increased considerably. The main goal is to accurately detect and use the maps produced by the map users. In this study, the literature sources related to map design were carefully analyzed and the studies related to map production, design and reproduction were compiled. In our country, the basic rules about map design are given as examples with regard to the maps produced and/or to be produced.
