Development and In Vitro characterization of carvediol-containing nanoparticle formulation

Abstract (EN)

Carvedilol, a third-generation, non-selective β-adrenoreceptor blocker, is classified in Class 2 with a lipophilic racemic structure in pharmaceutical categorization. It is used in the treatment of heart failure, chronic angina pectoris and chronic hypertension; however, it has low solubility and limited bioavailability. When taken orally, there are some difficulties in getting the drug into the target tissue and releasing the active substance. In order to solve these problems and increase the effect of the drug in the target tissue, in this study, nanoparticle formulations were created by two different methods using Eudragit S100 polymer. In the study, these formulations were characterized, their in vitro properties were examined and as a result of the release studies, it was determined that the effect of the drug was increased and the active substance was successfully released.
