Abstract (EN)
This study aims to determine whether there is leishmania parasite in dogs in Kastamonu Municipality Stray Animal Temporary Nursing Home, and to determine whether some dependent variables are related to the characteristics of infected dogs, if any. The population of the study consists of dogs brought to Kastamonu Municipality Stray Animal Temporary Nursing Home for routine clinical control, diagnosis and treatment. However, since it is not possible to take samples from all dogs, 200 of the dogs brought to the nursing home in the last 6 months of 2022 were selected as samples. Blood samples from the selected sample were used. Other observation data obtained by microscopic examination of blood and rapid diagnosis kit data were analyzed using quantitative research methods. As a result of the analysis, the presence of leishmaniasis was detected in 9 of 200 samples. Some of the results obtained with statistical analyzes are as follows: It has been observed that microscopic findings in dogs decrease as one goes from the coastal districts to the land districts. As dogs age, their skin health deteriorates. There is a weak and significant correlation between abnormalities in lymph nodes and gender. It has been observed that the skin health of dogs deteriorates as we go from summer to winter months. The gender of the dogs has a significant effect on the lymph nodes. Age has an effect on skin health. It can be said that the district where the dogs come from has an effect on the skin health and the positive diagnosis made as a result of microscopic examination. It can be said that hair color may have a negative effect on skin health and a positive effect on the leishmaniasis test. It can be said that the winter months have an increasing effect on skin problems.
