Investigation of atmospheric pollen concentration in Kastamonu province 2017

Abstract (EN)

Polens of Kastamonu Atsmophere were studied using Hirst type pollen trap (Burkard) from October 1 to December 31 of 2017. 89 483 pollen grain was collected belonging to 41 taxa during the study period. Among the samples, 26 taxa were tree and busches (i.e. Acer, Aesculus, Alnus, Betula, Carpinus, Castanea, Corylus, Cupressaceae /Taxaceae, Ericaceae, Fagus, Fabaceae, Fraxinus, Hedera, Juglans, Laurus, Maclura, Morus, Oleaceae, Ostrya, Pinaceae, Platanus, Populus, Quercus, Rosaceae, Salix, and Ulmus) gave 89.23 % (79 844 pollen grain) of the pollen grains. Among the identified taxa, 14 were identified as herbaceous plants (i.e. Artemisia, Apiaceae, Asterceae, Boraginaceae, Brassicaceae, Carex, Caryophyllaceae, Amaranthaceae, Humulus, Labiatae, Papaver, Plantago, Rumex, Urticaceae), whose pollen grains spaced 4.95 % (4 432 pollen grain). Number pollen grains belong to Gramineae family were 5.82 % (5 207 numbers). The taxa gave higher percentages of the atmospheric pollen grains were Pinacease with 47.43 % (42 460 pollen grain), Cupressaceae /Taxaceae with 24.68 % (22 098 pollen grain), Graminease wth 5.82 % (5 207 pollen grain), Betula with 4.73 % (4 235 pollen grain), Quercus with 3.81 % (3 406 pollen grain), Carpinus with 2.57 % (2 299 pollen grain), Amaranthaceae with 2.32 % (2 079 pollen grain) and Fagus with 1.38 % (1 237 pollen grain). Polinazation-season and seasonal pollen percantages in atmosphere showed differences. Pollen micrograph of dominant taxa along with description. In addition to these, pollen calender was prepared using weekly pollen data.
