Abstract (EN)
In the PhD Thesis entitled ?Determination of Scoliosis Facts and Evaluation of Physical Exercises Therapy?s Efficiency on the Kastamonu Primary School Students?, early diagnosis of scoliosis, to slow down the progress of scoliosis and/or the determination of the treatment via physical exercises without surgical intervention or corset on infants at the primary school period are aimed. In the thesis, school screening on 7998 infants (3879 girls and 4119 boys at an average age of 10,28) in 21Kastamonu central primary schools, at the terms of 2009-2010 Fall and 2010-2011 Spring Academic Year is carried out. During the school screening scoliosis diagnosed on 37 infants and experiment and control groups (each of them are containing 12 students) are selected between these infants. In the scope of this thesis, the frequency of scoliosis occurrence in Kastamonu primary school students are 0.412% in girls and 0.509% in boys. Average cobb angle of exercises group is measured as 9.25° before the physical exercises and measured as 7.25° after the physical exercises. Average cobb angle of control group is increased from 11.58° to 12.50° in two measurements. In the research group, the average cobb angles are measured as 10.83° in girls and 10.39° in boys. There isn?t significant differences related gender. Distribution of scoliosis in the research group is as thoracic in 13 infants, cervicothoracal in 3 infants, thoracolumbal in 5 infants and lumbar in 3 infants. When compared of pre and post physical exercises? statistical findings of exercises group there are significant differences at average height, weight, width of ellow, upper arm circumference, chest depth, chest width, biacromial diameter, chest circumference, back power and cob angle. As the research of thesis shows that physical exercises are effective method in the treatment of scoliosis patients at the age of primary school. It?s proved that if the exercises are done with the collaboration of families and teachers both the societal consciousness of the scoliosis fact would increase and early diagnosis and to slow down or to prevent the progress of scoliosis would be possible.
