Abstract (EN)
In this study, 9 pieces of ceilings in the center of Kastamonu, 20 pieces of ceilings in Safranbolu, 11 pieces of ceilings in Daday of the traditional Turkish houses were found appropriate for examination. Kastamonu and Safranbolu are important residential regions in examples of Turkish houses. Because building systems in this region were based on wooden materials, the life of some houses hadn?t existed long enough. The transition to modern life style from a traditional way of life had caused to leave these houses to neglect and rub off in time. Due to the large size of houses; division of the large families, heating etc. were important factors which led being left. The wooden ceilings are one of the most damaged sections in the traditional Turkish houses. In this study, the ceilings of the traditional Turkish houses, which could still remain original, in center of Kastamonu, Daday and Safranbolu had been examined, the photographs of only important ones had been taken, the measured drawings and inventories had been brought out. The examining of the ceiling decoration of the traditional Turkish houses have been given importance. Accordingly, it had been observed that there were similarities and differences among the methods of ceiling construction, properties and styles of decoration, upper surface procedures. Wood, matter colors and plaster materials had been used in the implementation and construction of decorations. The ceiling of the features of traditional Turkish houses had been documented for being useful and transferring new generations by bringing out inventories.
