Examining of marbling of manuscripts belonging to the sixteenth, protected in the Kastamonu Manuscript Library

It is know that the manuscripts in our libraries are both documented and very importand in terms of presenting a lot of infor mation in terms of technique, style and diversity related to book arts. It is understood from their art productions that the techniques, styles and art disciplines seen in manuscripts are a guide and source of inspiration for many artists today. In this sense, Kastamonu Manuscript Library is in a special position with more than 4000 examples of rare manuscripts. 103 classical period manuscripts belonging to the 16th century, registered in the library inventory and subject to this study, contain important examples of Turkish book arts. It could not determine that the marble Works in question have been the subject of any scientifıc study before and believing that it will contribute to the field, it has been tried to analyze the marbling used in manuscripts in terms of color, variety and technical features. In this thesis consisting of four parts, the first part is devoted to an overview of the subject definitions and statistical data. In the second part, Turkish marbling art history, technique and material and classical Turkish marbling types are discussed. In the third part, the color, variety and technique of the 16th century marbled works in the Kastamonu Manuscript Library are catalogued. In the fourth part, original artistic works are included within the scope of Turkish marbling art. Key Words: Manuscript, Turkish book arts, Marbling
