Minstrel tradition in Kastamonu local press

The tradition of minstrelsy, which is included in Turkish folk music and is based on bard/kam/baksı, is stil maintained in some provinces. It is seen that this tradition, which exists in the Kastamonu region, which has an important place as a cultural center, is about to disappear over time. Revealing this tradition seen in the past of the region is important in terms of local culture and tradition.In this study, it is aimed to reveal the news and activities related to the minstrel tradition in the Kastamonu loca lpress. Findings were obtained by document analysis, using one of the qualitative research methods, scanning model. Within the scope of the research, news, columns, poems, epics, nursery rhymes and satire samples placed in Açıksöz, Kastamonu, Yeni Kastamonu and Doğrusöz newspapers between 1930 and 2000 were reached. As a result of thestudy, in thelight of thein formation obtained from the newspaper articles, it was understood that Ozanoğlu and Yorgansız Hakkı took part in the activities organized by the community centers in the 1930s when the minstrels were stil alive. Columns and news mentioning festivies with the participation of minstrels from different regions back in 1983- 1985 and 1989 have been reached. Due to the anniversary of the death of the minstrels of Kastamonu, it was seen that there were articles on the lives and works of the minstrels in the newspapers. The Works written by the minstrels in the style of poetry, epic, nursery rhyme and verse were got through to the readers by the newspaper.
