Abstract (EN)
One of the biggest problems of last century is the problem of consumption and production which develop as depending on the increasing population. solid wastes created by the problem of consumption and production negatively affect the environmental health. Developed countries work for removal of solid wastes by building storage areas for landfill of solid wastes with the purpose of creating a solution for increasing environmental pollution. landfill system in the removal of solid wastes is one of the known common methods. This system isn't widely used in Turkey. The problem of solid waste poses threats day by day in developed and developing world countries. the leading threat among them is environmental pollution. Another problem is the struggle and method of big cities for solid wastes.Leaks caused by garbage give harms to the animal and plant health by mixing with groundwater and surface water in solid waste landfill areas. Impermeability in the solid waste landfill areas should be well provided to prevent these harms.Providing the impermeabiltiy is possible by acquiring and applying two materials with a right technique. the first and the most important one of these materials is clay and so forth materials and the other one is geosynthetic materials. In the study, clay and geosynthetics used for providing the impermeability have been analysed in detail. Within the scope of subject and aim of the study, threats on the environmental health have been tried to minimize by preventing leaks affecting the living health neagtively. In this subject, leak rate has been determined by increasing the necessary layer thickness of clay within the scope of experiments.
