Abstract (EN)

There has been a dramatic incresae in production and consumption with regarded to the population growth since the second half of the twentieth century. This increase encourages pollution in the environment and causes the evadication of economical sources. When analysed in the context of sustainable development the struggles for preventing natural sources from existion, recyling the wastes into the economy and developing the economics of recycling have risen since 1970?s.In the international field, starting from an individual, local and national administrations have been charged with some issues so as to develop the eco-economy thought. The environmental and waste managements made the subject of the international aggreements aim to provide the next generations with higher wealth standard in the terms of both social and economic. In order to get this purpose individual, national and international responsibilities are determined. These charges are been investigated in the leadership of United Nations and made the constitutional requirements of the countries.In Turkey it is a constituional task in the coordination of the Ministry of Environment and Forest to apply the requirements of the environment and waste management thought in the context of sustainable development. These tasks and responsibilies of indivials, local administrations, municipilaties, special provincial administrations and the state have been arranged according to international laws. According to the principle of social state all the problems which decrease the wealth of the society must be prevented, diminished and/or devasitated. This study purposes to analyse the economic analysis of environment and waste management. Taking the statistical data about Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality as a reference, the economic cost of wastes is interpreted and some economic and ecological returns which should be gained by the help of the optimal waste management are put forth.
