ABSTRACTAnterior Chamber Parameters Changes After Cataract SurgeryPurpose: Research the effect of phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation on anterior chamber parametersMaterials and Methods: During the time april 2010 to July 2012, 94 eyes of the 94 patients that applied to Cukurova University Faculty of Medicine Department of Eye Diseases Center, and underwent phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation were reviewed retrospectively. Aplanation tonometer was used to measure intraocular pressure and Sirius rotating Scheimpflug camera and Placido disk combination system was used to measure anterior chamber depth, anterior chamber volume, anterior chamber angle. Preoperatif intraocular pressure, anterior chamber depth, anterior chamber volume and anterior chamber angle have been compared with the postoperative values.Results: There have been 94 patients in this study. % 52,13 were male and % 47,87 were female. Mean age was 62,1±10,8. İntraocular pressure was 14,8± 1,7 preoperatively and decreased to 14,2±1,8 postoperatively. (p=0, 0001) Median anterior chamber depth was 2,9(1,82-4,29) preoperatively and increased to 3,7(1,42-5,02) postoperatively. (p=0,0001) Median anterior chamber volume was 143(64-473) preoperatively and increased to 179(82-653) postoperatively. (p= 0,004) Mean anterior chamber angle was 41,6± 8,3 preoperatively and increased to 51,1± 7,1 postoperatively. (p=0, 0001) The anterior chamber depth, anterior chamber volume and anterior chamber angle have showed statistially significant increase and intraocular pressure have showed statistially significant decrease after phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation.Conclusion: Phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation effects the anterior chamber parameters on glaucomatous and also non glauocomatous patients. The Scheimpflug camera techniques suchs as Sirius can evaluate this parameters easily and quickly.Key Words: Anterior chamber parameters, Sirius, Scheimpflug camera
