Özet (EN)
Aim Postoperative refraction after cataract surgery has become more important after development of surgical technics. This study was designed to investigate the effect of facoemulsification-Intraocular lens (IOL) implantation surgery to anterior chamber angle (ACA), anterior chamber volume (ACV) and anterior chamber depth (ACD) and to compare the anterior segment parameters such as ACA, ACV, ACD measured by Pentacam and axial length (AL) measured by İOL Master with postoperative refractive error. Patient and method Data of the patients that performed facoemulsification-IOL implantation surgery in our clinic betweet january 2012 and june 2014 was evaluated retrospectively. In this clinical study a total of 231 participants (105 male, 126 female) were recruited. Age, sex, type of the cataract (cortical, nuclear, posterior subcapsular etc.) determined by biomicroscopic examination, preoperative and postoperative third month ACA, ACV, ACD measured by Pentacam-Scheimpflug, preoperative AL measured by IOL-Master, target refraction, IOL power calculated by SRK-T formula, spheric equvalent of postoperative third month refraction measured by otorefractometry were recorded. Postoperative refractive error calculated as mean error (ME =postoperative refraction-target refraction) and mean absolute error (MAE =absolute of ME) was also recorded. Results Preoperative ACA, ACV, ACD of the patients performed facoemulsification-IOL implantation surgery were 30,2 ±12,1, 130,7 ±41,2, 2,6 ±0,4 respectively. Postoperative ACA, ACV, ACD were measured 42,7 ±5,8, 172,1 ±28,2, 4,1 ±0,7 respectively. Anterior chamber parameters were increased after facoemulsification-IOL implantation, it was statistically significant (p:0.001). Significant correlation wasn't found between ME and ACA, ACV, ACD, AL. Significant correlation wasn't also found between MAE and ACA, ACV, ACD. Only a little correlation was found between MAE and AL. 4 Conclusion Anterior chamber parameters like ACA, ACV, ACD measured after facoemulsification-IOL implantation surgery are increased significantly according to the parameters measured preoperatively. There is no significant correlation between preoperative ACA, ACV, ACD, AL and postoperative refractive error. Key words: Facoemulsification, Pentacam, IOL Master, refractive error
