A psychoanalytic comparison of Katherine Mansfield's The Garden Party and Tomris Uyar's İpek ve Bakir story books

The method of psychoanalysis, which was systematically developed by Sigmund Freud at the end of the 19th century and later developed by other researchers, basically aims at solving human behavior and explaining these behaviors in a cause-and-effect relationship. Literature is also the main subject of human psychology and literature and psychology is the two branches that feed each other. The most famous example of this is the work of Sophokles, the King Oedipus, studied by Freud. Freud found the Oedipus complex, one of the foundations of his own psychoanalytic theory. In addition, he analyzed Dostoyevsky's works in the context of literature and psychology. To give examples of Turkish Literature Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kaplan's work, Tevfik Fikret, was created by psychologically examining the works of Tevfik Fikret. In this study, one of the important storytellers of English literature, Katherine Mansfield, who produced works in the 1900s, and Tomris Uyar, who was accepted as one of the short story writers influenced by the 1950 generation of Turkish literature, will be compared psychoanalytically. Although the two women story writers live in different geographies and periods, this study is suitable for comparison in psychoanalytic context, since they are concerned with the lives of ordinary people in their works, their mood, their inner worlds, suppression of their feelings and their efforts to exist.
