Abstract (EN)
In this study, the inhibition efficiency of EMID (1-ethyl-3methylimidazolium dicyanamid) and BMIH (1-benzyl-3methylimidazolium hexaflouro phosphate) were investigated, against mild steel corrosion in acidic media Then, these compounds were studied as additives in polypyrrole coating. For this purpose, FT-IR, SEM analysis, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and galvanostatic techniques were utilized. As a result, BMIH has non efficiency as an inhibitor on steel. Its flour rich structure does not have strong interaction with the surface. However, this property constitutes an important advantage when it is embedded in polypyrrole film. The presence of hexaflorophosphate in polymer film is demonstrated with FT-IR analysis results. Once these anions are fixed through the polymer film, the film permeability decreases remarkably and total protection efficiency is improved. In contrast, EMID showed effective inhibitor behavior for mild steel corrosion, but it is found not to be effective as an additive, with respect to BMIH.
