Özet (EN)

The thesis investigates how folding techniques contribute to architectural education, focusing on their impact on students' design skills and added value. It aims to demonstrate that folding can be used as a learning style to address design problems in the post-pandemic era. By examining the relationship between origami and folding, the research clarifies their distinctions in architectural terminology and reevaluates folding in architectural education. The study explores how social, environmental, and technological changes in architectural education affect students' design processes and how folding techniques can help solve these challenges. It examines the contribution of folding techniques to both formal and informal learning, proposing that these techniques offer multifaceted benefits in design and education. A unique perspective on the relationship between origami and folding is provided, highlighting their differences and usage in architectural contexts. This distinction addresses existing ambiguities in the literature and supports the reevaluation of folding within architectural education. The research includes a case study with architecture students to investigate the practical benefits of folding techniques in design and learning. It concludes that folding techniques have the potential to significantly enhance the architectural design process and educational outcomes.
