Awareness of participation banks' application differences from conventional banks: The example of Batman province

In this study, it has been tried to determine the awareness of the difference in the practice of participation banks, which were established for religious, social, economic and political reasons and which are increasing today, from conventional banks and the factors affecting the preference of these banks on the scale of Batman province. In the study, data were collected and analyzed through a survey method over 428 participants. The most striking finding of the study was that 87 (20.3%) of the participants could not distinguish between the two banks. This situation was evaluated as a low level of awareness about participation banks. The study also showed that the religious judgments of the participants regarding participation banks were generally positive. However, it has been understood that not only religious factors but also other factors such as economic and financial factors can be effective in the preference of participation banks. It was tested whether the averages of religious, economic/financial and general judgments about participation banks vary according to some descriptive characteristics of the participants such as gender, age, education, occupation and income, and most of the hypotheses formed in this regard were rejected. As a result of the correlation analysis, it was observed that there was a positive relationship only between the variables of education and income and the average of economic and financial judgments about participation banks (KBEO).
