Abstract (EN)
Objective: The study aims to provide effective services that are sustainable and suitable for the unique needs of elderly individuals living in rural areas and to develop an Applied Gerontological Service Model accordingly. Method: This study was carried out using the case study method with a qualitative research approach. Semi-structured interviews, social mapping and Venn Diagram techniques, which are among the Participatory Rural Appraisal Techniques, were used. The data were collected from 14 elderly individuals, 8 professionals and 30 participants through social mapping and the Venn diagram by applying maximum sample triangulation method. Evaluations were made using thematic analysis, descriptive method and SWOT analysis. Findings: According to the analysis of the data, the living situation in Ibradı, basic needs, care problems and transportation and accessibility to services were emphasised by the elderly in the in-depth interviews, while the opinions of the professionals emphasized Ibradı, the living situation of the elderly, the needs of the elderly, and participation in services and activities. Among the findings evaluated as risk factors are low education level, loneliness, high number of elderly population and need for care. Conclusion: The Applied Gerontological Model, within the framework of environment and person adaptation theory, envisages the creation of intervention areas by taking into account the health, psychological, physical, social, economic and environmental needs of the elderly. Research findings show that rural elderly people face multidimensional challenges such as limited health services, low accessibility, loneliness and social isolation. The model aims to increase the diversity, accessibility and quality of services in cooperation with local institutions and organisations. In addition, it is essential that older people continue to stay in their own environment and benefit from both family support and professional care services. Key words: aging, rural aging, applied gerontology, need for care, gerontological service model
