Abstract (EN)
Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a highly efficient and green oxidizer as it has the highest active oxygen content (47.1 g/g) and only H2O as a by-product. As a result of the literature research, hydrogen peroxide had a complex process for its production to take place in the first place. Searches for new methods have started in order to eliminate the deficiencies of the widely used anthraquinone oxidation production method. While determining new methods, parameters that will provide advantages such as system sustainability, clean production, and no by-product residues have been considered. In addition to these parameters, pH, temperature, use and concentration of different electrolytes, type and type of electrode to be used as cathode, air flow rate, current and potential and electrochemical stability were decisive for system optimization. While the cathodic production of hydrogen peroxide by electrochemical means is known as clean production, it also eliminates the residue problems and the need for a secondary treatment. In addition, it is also used for more specific wastewater. Treatment efficiency increases depending on the modified systems. Depending on the high surface area, increase in the electron density of the porous volume, system pH, air flow rate, electrolyte concentration, cathode type and system design, the efficiency of the pollutant removed increases. In this study, the cathodic hydrogen peroxide production efficiency was evaluated and the pollutant removal performance from the waters was recovered in the presence of supportive studies. As a result, it is possible to say that when the production efficiency increases, the pollutant removal efficiency increases in parallel. While evaluating the production efficiency, the main parameters and design of the system work in conjunction with each other. If water with complex pollutants is to be treated with this method, it would be reasonable to use modified systems. While the production efficiency is increased, pollutant removal is increased with many different electrode types and types such as the cathode with increased surface area, the cathode designed to provide air flow, the cathode adjusted as a rotating disk, the cathode modified with coating technology. In the studies on system parameters, optimization was achieved by taking into account the electricity cost and system stability. Optimum conditions determined for cathodic hydrogen peroxide production; pH=3, electrolyte concentration is 0.05 M. Other parameters vary depending on the system design.
