Abstract (EN)

In this research the visually impaired primary school students who study in special education scholls or the mainstreaming education schools were planned to compare their self esteem. The sample of this reaearch in Istanbul in 2008 consist of students who attend on special education schools or the mainstreaming education and that students are 121 of them study at blind school,20 of them study at mainstreaming education schools. The sample consisted of 70 male and 71 female students. In this research the General Information form and Piers- Harris Children?s Self Concept Scale were used to collect data. SPSS 15.0 package program was used for evaluating data. According to statistical results obtained from the research to be popular and axiety sub dimension in terms of gender was significant in favor of boy.Continuing education students in special education in school group and total size of sub, 9 and in the other groups of students in the age group of six students came significantly. Getting education in different school is an advantage for sight disabled students level comman and sub self esteem , who continue special education and mainstreaming education.Students who are visually impaired from birth in the behaviour of sub dimensions were significant in favor of visually impaired students. According to the benefit of the students who were living in rented .They obtained lower scores on Happiness Size according to the variable to see less in favor of the group has been realized.However comman self esteem of students who continue special education schools and mainstreaming education do not show noticeable diffrences on the way they go to school, the type they write , date they became sight-disablerd, use of computer, whether having siblings not , education level of mother and father , occupation of father and mother , residence in city and sight level .
