The examine of emphatic tendency of the classes which have mainstreami̇ng students

This research is a descriptive study that examines the empathic tendencies of classes with integration students. The universe of the research is composed of the students who are studying in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades of the secondary schools in Kayseri province and Melikgazi district. The sample of the study consisted of 1545 students who were educated in 6th, 7th and 8th grade in five schools with different socio – economic levels selected by easy reachable sampling method. The Empathic Tendency Scale (Dökmen, 1988) was used as data collection tools in the survey, the Personal Information Form and the Special Education Needed Student List showing the types of obstacles of the mainstreaming students were used. As a result of the evaluation made, it was seen that the levels of empathic tendency of the students were significantly different according to the gender veriable. The empathic tendency of female students was observed significantly higher than the male students. According to class level variable, 6th and 7th grade students empathic tendency levels were higher than 8th grade students. According to socio-economic level variable, it wasn't found a statistically remarkable difference in empathic tendencey level. When we look at the empathic tendencey levels of the calssroom in whic integration method used or not used, we couldn't find a statistically significant difference between the scores of both groups.
