Abstract (EN)
This study includes the archaeological and archaeometric analysis of 53 sherds of black inside and buff outside ceramics recovered from the Bileç Höyük; located about 300 m west of the Develi-Yahyalı highway; in the Güney Aşağı Quarter of Develi district center in Kayseri province. These sherds, consisting of rim and handle fragments, were divided into three groups according to their additives. The 53 sherds were grouped in terms of composition and form. The ceramic finds recovered from the region were characterized by archaeometric analyses to understand the production technology such as local/imported production (provenance analysis), raw material contents and firing temperatures. These analyses were performed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and optical microscopy (OM). According to the analysis results, the presence of mixed igneous rocks in the finds and the fact that the region is a volcanic region suggest that the production is local. In addition, the presence of phases such as diopside and anorthite in the samples suggests that the firing temperature of these samples was between 850℃-950℃. The production method of the selected samples. When the digital, optical microscope and scanning electron microscope images of the samples coded CI-1, CI-8, CI-9, CI-12 and CI-14 are examined, it is seen that the inner and outer surfaces are polished. It was observed that quartz was used as temper material in samples coded CI-2, CI-3, CI-4, CI-9, CI-13, CI-14, CI-15 and calcite in samples coded CI-3, CI-4, CI-14, CI-15.
