Abstract (EN)

The Sultansazlığı Wetland Area which is one of the most important bird paradise of Turkey, is located at Develi Closed Basin within the boundary of Kayseri city. Sultansazlığı is protected according to the International Ramsar Agreement. At present; there is water scarcity and water pollution problem at Sultansazlığı. In the content of this study; the reason of water scarcity is searched and if there is any relationship between the surface water of Sultansazlığı and groundwater is investigated. Electrical rezistivity test, isotope and water chemistry analysis are carried out for this purpose. Former investigations about Sultansazlığı and Develi Closed Basin are examined. Additionally surface and groundwater budget of Develi Closed Basin and surface water budget of Sultansazlığı are prepared. As a result; it is determined that there is not direct relationship between the surface water of Sultansazlığı and groundwater so the groundwater abstraction from the deep wells is not a factor about the drying of Sultansazlığı.
