Özet (EN)

The City Taraz which was one of the major centers in Talas basin due to its location in the route of the Silk Road had monuments which are important in terms of religious and architectural heritage. In the Master?s Thesis under the title ?The Tombs in City Taraz of Kazakhstan (Ayşe Bibi, Babacı Hatun ve Karahan Türbeleri, 11-12 centuries)? three tombs located in the mentioned city are investigated. One of the tombs which are examined is situated in the city center, and two are in places near to city. The tombs dated to 11-12 centuries which protected their originality are important due to the brick and terracotta craftsmanship of that period, and to architecture which reflects decorative arts of the local places. Karahan?s (Evliya Ata) Tomb lost its originality as it was completely restored. In the tomb?s cover system, dome from inside and conical and pyramidal cone from outside were applied. However, due to the restoration, Karahan?s Tomb was covered from inside and outside with dome. In the construction of tombs of Central Asia and Kazakhstan generally brick is used as material. These funerary monuments are the important representatives of the Turkish architectural works tradition of the Turkish-Islamic era and Karahanlı Period which in fact developed in the mentioned region since ancient times. Keywords: 1. Central Asia 2. Kazakhstan 3. Karahanlı 4. Tomb 5. Terracotta
