Measurement of knowledge, skills, experience and opinions about the subject of employees of some institutions that take place in CBRN events, with in-depth interview technique: The case of Gümüşhane and Erzurum provinces

CBRN events are important threats for all over the world and they can cause massive injuries and casualties. In this context, the first response to CBRN events at the local level is expected to be carried out by public institutions and stakeholders. The aim of the study is evaluating the knowledge level, intervention skills, attitudes about the subject of institution personnel involved in CBRN events and their readiness to any CBRN case, the level of preparedness of institutions against such a situation and the ability to respond in such an event of the province of Gümüşhane and the province of Erzurum where the headquarter is located, through the eyes of disasters and CBRN experts in institutions. For this purpose, interviews were conducted with the participants, who had the necessary knowledge and expertise, of the ten different institutions that were permitted to participate in the study and agreed to participate in the study and sound recordings were taken. During the interviews, the form that was created to collect data called "Interview Questions on Knowledge, Skills, Planning, Equipment, Experience and Attitude, About CBRN" was used. The obtained data were analyzed by thematic coding. As a result of the interviews, it was found that most of the institutions involved in this issue in Erzurum and Gümüşhane provinces have insufficient about training, planning, exercises, PPE and equipments and it was observed that, in Gümüşhane and Erzurum , for participating institutions involved in these events and their staffs there are insufficiencies in CBRN preparation and intervention that cover many issues and the works on this issue should be increased and carried out.
