Abstract (EN)

CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear) threats pose a great risk to human life and have the potential to create an emergency. However, CBRN threats do not only constitute a risk to the life of the directly exposed patient or injured, but also pose a great risk to the employees involved in the intervention and even the surrounding society. Therefore, personnel who have to respond to a possible threat should be able to foresee the damages that the threat may cause and take the necessary measures. Pre-hospital emergency medical service is one of the important institution especially for human health. The difference of this health service, which is also called 112 emergency aid ambulances, from other health institutions, is that they are at the forefront of incidents that threaten human health and provide first and emergency medical assistance in the field. While performing this important task, they are exposed to many dangers and threats. This threat can be a threat that occurs in a standard case they go to, or it can be threats that occur as a result of CBRN agents that occur nonhabitual. In this study, the data that can help the pre-hospital emergency health service personnel, who are in a position to be exposed to threats due to their working environment, in the intervention of CBRN threat, was examined with the method of SWOT analysis. Their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats have been identified. As a result, in the light of the data analyzed by the SWOT analysis method, it was envisaged that the data covering the preparedness of the personnel in the mentioned institution for CBRN threats was not sufficient. However, strengths and opportunities such as the strong status of the institution, organizational opportunities for institutions, in-house training, project opportunities have been found to have significant effects on eliminating weaknesses and threats that may occur. New recommendations have been developed as a result of the SWOT analysis to contribute to the participation of staff in the management process against CBRN threats.
