The application of traditional Cypriot handcrafts in the lesson of visual art, application analysis

In this research, the information about Cypriot handicraft was given. The importance of traditional handicraft was determined in terms of teaching and protecting the cultural values in teaching art.The samples of this research were the students of Eastern Mediterranean Primary school. The students were from the classes of 5 white and 5 red. The time of it was between 2006 and 2007. A tour was organized to the art studios of the Society of Cypriot Folk Art. After the tour, the students were made to use the motives of birds which are in the Cypriot (traditional) Handicraft, in their own work of crayons through their own interpretations. The form of the ideas of the students, and the findings between applications so at the end of the research, the ideas and the knowledge of the students were determined.For the analysis, qualitative analysis was used. At the end of the research, the students were informed about the Traditional Cypriot Handicraft. With the addition of the Traditional Art to the TRNC Visual Art Curriculum, the education of visual art was used to help the values which are nearly forgotten to be alive.As a result, introducing of the values which are nearly forgotten through visual art, and using the traditional art in education help the students to develop.
