Abstract (EN)
viSUMMARYMORPHOLOGICAL AND PHONETIC FEATURES OF CYPRIOT GREEK INSYLLABARDocuments in syllabar in Cyprus were spread in whole island from 8th century till toHellenistic Age B.C. They were recorded in a particular Grek which can be compared withlanguages and dialects of adjacent areas like Pamphylian Greek Dialect in Asia Minor.Evolution of Script and language in Cyprus is a topic matter fort he history of the script andfort he greek dialectology. The writting model in syllabary is a continuation of the Bronze Age phases. It may bedevelopped under the influence of Minoan and Mycenean civilizations in the island but thewritting system was applied also for some non-greek languages like Eteokıbrıs. Cypruslanguage which is stil undeciphered. Dokuments in syllabar in Cyprus have a two-sidedproblem. The first is the problem of the use of the syllabic script and the second is theengagement of the script for different languages. As it is clear there were also differentsyllabaries for the same language in the same and partially different areas. In the present master thesis we focused mainly on greek language in the island. Herefollow a morphological and phonetical analysis of the greek in the documents in syllabicscript. This study stands mainly on the basis of O. Masson?s work ?Les Inscriptions Chypriotessyllabiques?. The method applied in the study is to classify all the verbs, nouns, adverbs, adjectives, personal names, names and attributes of gods/goddess, participles and prepositionsknown from over 500 inscriptions gathered in the above mentioned corpus which isabbreviated as ICS.As a consequence, the main purpose of the thesis under the title of ?Morphological andPhonetic Features of Cypriot greek in syllabar? is to investigate first of all the historicaldevelopment of the writing system, to establish the grammar and the phonetic equivalents, toreveal its similarities with other dialects within the neighboring periphery and to compile theindividual contributions of linguists in the course of decipherment process.
