The structure and performance of fishing gears using region of Keban dam lake

ABSTRACT Masters Thesis THE STRUCTURE AND PERFORMANCE OF FISHING GEARS USING IN ÇEMIŞGEZEK REGION OF KEBAN DAM LAKE Mürşide DARTAY Fırat University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Fish Catching Tecnique and Fish Processing Technology 2005, Page:53 This study was aimed to determine the performances and structures of fishing gears used in the Çemişgezek region of Keban Dam Lake between February 2003 - November 2004. In tiie present study, it was found that the most of fishing gears used in this region were monofilament gillnets. In addition, trammel nets and pinters for catching of crayfish were also used. During this study, total 62900 meters gillnets were examined inthe Çemişgezek region (9550 hectar) of Keban Dam Lake.61800 meters of its are monofilament and 1100 meters of its are multifilament. Total 1300 meters trammel nets were also determined. In addition, total 300 pinter used for crayfish catching were examined. It was found that 137939 kg fish were catched in a fishing season from this region of Keban Dam Lake. It was 14.44 kg fish per hectar in a fishing season. In addition, it was determined that 4773 kg crayfish were catched in a fishing season (June-July-2003) from same region and this makes 0.5 kg per hectar.
