Abstract (EN)
Gingivitis is a common disease which may be seen on every age groups in cats with different severity. As widely seen in the world, it is also very commonly reported in Turkey. In this study, comparative treatment approaches were evaulated between the two clinically gingivitis diagnosed cat groups which were brought to the Batıkent Veterinary Clinic, Ankara, by using amoxicillin and trimethoprim drugs. To begin with, a number of 22 cats were divided into two groups, regardless of age, sex, and breed. Severity of the disease in every individual in both groups was determined by clinical examination using gingival index. The first group received amoxicillin&clavulanik acid (Amoksisilin 7 per + Klavunolik asit 1.75 per, subcutan, kg/life weight) while the second group was administered Trimethoprim&Sulfadimethyl (Trimethoprim 4 per + Sulfadimethyl pyrimidine 20 per, subcutan, kg/body weight). The results demonstrated that there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in terms of the treatment time. It is thought that this finding may be a valuable data for practicioners in small animal surgery.
