Abstract (EN)

Ceramic; It is a product created by shaping and firing inorganic materials using various methods. Although man first wood and stone by carving them, what he does here is to shape a substance in nature. However, the first ceramic was obtained by processing, shaping and firing the soil called clay. Clay minerals are formed from the physical and chemical degradation of feldspathic rocks such as granite under natural conditions. Bentonite, one of these clay minerals, is a more expensive type of clay because it is found more limitedly in nature. This clay, which can be in two different chemistries as sodium bentonite and calcium bentonite, is used after gaining different qualities through chemical processes and mineral additives depending on the field where it will be used. The most distinctive feature of this sand, which is used as pure bentonite for cat litter purposes and has a high ability to absorb liquid, is clumping and petrification. Urine that is absorbed quickly clumps in a short time and then turns into a hard mass. By removing these lumps, it may be possible for the sand to remain clean for a long time. Glaze; It is the glass or glassy layer that covers the surfaces of ceramic products and provides technical, aesthetic and hygienic properties to the product. There are important factors in obtaining glazes. The first of these is the raw materials used in the recipe composition of the glaze, the second is the application method of the glaze, and the third is the baking program. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the effects of cat litter by preparing different recipe compositions with transparent and opaque glaze using commercially available cat litter with high bentonite content, and to investigate the effects on the ceramic body by adding different amounts of coloring oxides such as CuO and Fe2O3 to these recipes. It has been concluded that commercially used bentonite cat litter can be used at different temperatures by adding colorant to the glaze recipe.
