Abstract (EN)

Kemankeş Kara Mustafa Pasha, who served as a grand vizier in every aspect of the Ottoman Empire, a waqf civilization in which the state was engaged in social and economic revolts, attracted attention with its philanthropic side as well as its successful political side. Mustafa Pasha, which has a mosque, masjid, madrasah, khan, customs building, a large number of shops, jewish houses, fountains and married rooms in Istanbul. It is also known that he rebuilt the Iskender Pasha Mosque in Fatih and the Mihal Bey Bridge in Edirne. Apart from the waqfs in Istanbul, Mustafa Pasha, who has mukataas in Egriboz, Sivas and Canakkale, built a range of merchandise in Sivas-Yenihan and settled it by placing some people there. In this study, which is the subject of Kemankeş Kara Mustafa Pasha Waqfs, it was tried to find out the waqfiyye and other archive records, legal status of the waqfs, what are the charities works of the waqfs, where they are located and their fate within the centuries. In addition, the stipulation of Mustafa Pasha in the waqfiyye, whether the waqfs is managed in accordance with these stipulation, what are the sources of income of the waqfs, where it is located and the extent of the income to cover the expenses are among the issues under consideration. The Waqfs of Kemankeş Kara Mustafa Pasha, who was executed in 1644, lost their income sources in Rumelia with the end of the Ottoman rule in the Balkans, they managed to survive until the last period of the Ottoman Empire. Kemankeş Kara Mustafa Pasha Waqfs, which have been active for nearly 300 years, lost a great deal of foundations due to unplanned and unmethodical zoning activities in Istanbul during the Republican Period. Only the mosques in Galata and in Sivas-Yıldızeli and the İskender Paşa Mosque and Mihal Bey Bridge, which were revived by Mustafa Paşa, have survived from the waqfs.
