Özet (EN)

In recent studies, it is pointed out that ?Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP)?, which is derived autogenously from the own blood of the patient, might have the potential to increase regeneration and accelerate the healing of the wound, due to the various growing factors it consists. Aim of our study is to evaluate, clinically and radiographically, the efficiency of PRP through application of b-TCP bone graft alone and in combination with PRP, by the end of the 6 months of healing period, in the treatment of periodontal intrabony defects. Forty-three 3-walled intrabony defects of fourteen patients with chronic periodontitis, were treated by PRP/b-TCP combination (n:27) or b-TCP alone (n:16). Clinical evaluation is obtained by measurements of PI, GI, PD, CAL, GR and BOP parameters recorded and radiographic evaluation was obtained by radiographic intrabony defect depth (RIDD) measurements of standardized digital radiographs of each site, before and 6 months after the treatment. When the parameters were compared between groups, no statistically significant difference was found. However, statistically significant reductions were observed in the intragroup evaluations. According to these data, with PRP/ b-TCP combination, 0,47 mm more attachment gain, 0,18 mm more RIDD reduction and 0,22 mm less GR were observed, compared to b-TCP group. However, when the groups were compared with each other, no statistically significant difference was found. In conclusion, the result of our study indicates that, after 6 months of healing period, application of PRP/ b-TCP and b-TCP alone are equally effective, in the treatment of 3-walled periodontal intrabony defects.
