Özet (EN)

This study was carried out as a Master's thesis in the field of Applied Geology at Yozgat Bozok University Graduate Education Institute, Department of Geological Engineering. In the thesis study, it was investigated whether geotextile obtained from hemp has an effect on the engineering properties of the compacted soil. Five different soil types were used in the study. Soil samples were named Z1 (SM), Z2 (SC), Z3 (ML), Z4 (MH), and Z5 (CH). Hemp rope was supplied and geotextile was produced by knitting method. Classification tests of soils, proctor tests for compression conditions and strength tests were carried out respectively. Unreinforced specimens and one and two hemp-reinforced specimens were tested in unconfined compression test, triaxial compression test and CBR tests. The unconfined compressive strength, cohesion, internal friction angle and CBR values of the samples were comparatively investigated for unreinforced, single-reinforced and double-reinforced samples. No significant relationship was observed between strength and reinforcement in CBR experiments. However, unconfined compression and triaxial compression test results show that geotextile produced of hemp can be used in compacted fills for strength enhancement, especially in certain soil groups.
