Abstract (EN)

Increasing urbanization and the increase in the demand for settlement in urban areas create pressure for construction in the urban peripheries and rural areas. Therefore, rural areas tend to integrate with urban areas over time. The sprawl of the city towards the urban fringe is the reason for the change in the agricultural and settlement characteristics of the rural settlements. This transformation has been moved to a legal basis with the zoning legislation. Rural settlements, which have become a part of the city, are under the threat of legally losing their unique identity and local characteristics with the law no 6306. This aim of this study is to explain the urbanization of rural areas within the transformation process of urban fringe. It is aimed to reveal the changes occurring in the Seyrek settlement area in urban fringe, the structure that do not conform to the morphological structure of the rural settlements and to draw attention to the lost unique identity of the rural areas. In this study, the transformation process is examined through urban morphological characteristics of Seyrek settlement, on the basis of typoligical characteristics of the urban tissue and its transformation. Morphological characteristics of urban sprawl in new settlements is examined on the basis of built environment and parcel scale. In this research, the development process of Seyrek settlement is revealed by examining the plans from past to present. Two different morphological areas are analyzed with the land use, transportation, public spaces, building - plot relations, building and plot chracteristics.
