Abstract (EN)

In urban rail transportation systems, stations are considered as public spaces. Studies such as making the stations, station-related spaces and environmental elements more useful and appealing to the eye, facilitating the accessibility of passengers to the stations, which should be arranged to serve passenger demands and meet the needs of passengers, have been carried out in order to make the stations a preferred and focal point. In this thesis, the structural and architectural design criteria of urban rail transportation stations are examined with the titles related to the environmental planning of urban rail transportation system stations, the spatial organization of stations, the elements that will affect the user in station design, the parameters affecting the site selection for station positioning, the designs required for disabled passengers and the capacities of stations. In addition, the criteria used to calculate the capacities of metro stations are listed and the basic flow process of capacity calculation is explained. One of the objectives of this thesis is to provide improvements and suggestions that can be made on urban rail transportation stations by examining the design criteria within the scope of existing standards that will relieve the user and contribute to passenger traffic in urban rail transportation stations. In this way, it is aimed to select the most appropriate system in public transportation by solving the transportation problems experienced in the city.
