Abstract (EN)
Competitiveness, which emphasizes the revision with the effect of globalization, is one of the means of dynamic, systematic development, growth, progress and enrichment of the city. Most countries have used competitive projects to ensure development, economic vitality and prosperity in countries and cities. The studies and researches on competitiveness have also served the development of the structures, concepts and elements of competitiveness. The issue of competitiveness within the framework of urban transformation contributes to the development of competitiveness perspective by addressing private economic zones, clustering in cities, regional, urban and inter-city competition, creative and learning cities and competitiveness. In our study, taking into consideration the competitive structure of urban transformation, improving the competitiveness of cities and transforming the city with the principle of increasing the competitiveness of the city, increasing urban prosperity, providing economic vitality to the city is aimed to reveal the effect on the progress and development. According to this purpose, all areas declared as risky areas in İzmir province were examined and Karabağlar urban transformation area was preferred. Karabağlar urban transformation project studies have been examined. Suggestions have been made considering the competitiveness in terms of urban transformation area. According to these suggestions, Karabağlar urban transformation area rather than one-dimensional urban transformation, It is concluded that İzmir will contribute to the prestige and brand value when the factors that will ensure competitiveness are brought to the fore.
