Abstract (EN)

In this study, a method used for phosphorus recovery for urban wastewater treatment is investigated by using data obtained from West and East Wastewater Treatment (WWTP) Plant which is managed by BUSKI (Bursa Metropolitan Municipality General Directorate of Water and Sewerage Administration). The process type used in this plant is the 5-stage Bardenpho. The data used in the thesis is based on the measurement of wastewater input and output concentrations taken in 2016-2018 period. In this thesis, it is aimed to estimate the phosphorus data via artificial neural networks with input and output parameters in Bursa East WWTP and Bursa West WWTP. MATLAB program was used to create artificial neural network models. In model development; flow, air temperature (oC), water temperature, pH, biological oxygen demand (BOD mg/L), chemical oxygen demand (COD mg / L), suspended solids, dissolved solids, nitrogen and phosphorus values are used as input and wastewater output phosphorus value are taken as output. Using 10 hidden layers, R2 obtained for the eastern WWTP is 0.65789 and for the western WWTP is 0.2321 In this thesis, the success of 5-step Bardenpho Process and the importance of phosphorus removal in urban wastewater are emphasized. In addition, the amount of experiments and measurements will be reduced with the artificial neural network used in this study. This will not only facilitate facility operation and system control, but will also contribute to the regional and national economy.
