Evaluation of the rail transportation network relations with urban transformation projects by the traffic impact analysis method: A case study of the old industry in Konya

In recent years, the urban transformation practices that gained speed; physical and spatial features come to the fore, and the harmony between the socio-economic arrangements, the upper scale plan and the land-use and land use decisions are laid down. Therefore, the surplus values that the transformation brings to the space are arranged to serve the interests of the private sector and the public benefit is ignored. The purpose of this thesis is; To make clear that the progression of the priority rail system lines planned to be built in Konya together with the "Old Industrial Area and Surrounding Urban Transformation Project" in the area where the main transfer centre is located, and to clarify how the values of the zoning values will be converted into public benefit by the central and local government. Within the scope of the thesis, it has been investigated to determine the problems encountered in the urban transformation phase, the mismatch between the transportation-land use decisions negatively affecting the macroform and the effect of transportation investments on the urban macroform within the framework of transportation-land use problems, and in order to create a sustainable city center in the transformation of the working area, a proposal transformation process and a transportation-oriented zoning plan, which foresee the public benefit, were made. Testing the compliance of transportation-land use decisions in the study area has been made by the evaluation of the "Traffic Impact Analysis". As a result, when we look at the whole of Konya, urban transformation studies and transportation investments gained momentum in recent years. If the land use activities are carried out in parallel with transportation investments, stakeholder are involved, and if the values of zoning are converted into public benefits through innovative approaches, the gates for the city will be opened.
