IV THE TRANSACTION OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT WITH TRANSPORTATION SİVRİHİSAR SAMPLE (M.Sc Thesis) Erman AKSOY GAZI UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY June 2005 ABSTRACT The junction, station and halting points of transportation connections are established when the history of settlements is examined. Therefore, these are the areas where settlements are formed. This transaction between settlements and transportation, has been determinative in social and economical development along with physical growth and giving shape to urban scale. Especially, regional transportation networks and technologies, differentiating parallel to the transportation policies, directs urban development. This fact, is relatively indicative in commercial regions and relationships of the city. For this reason, the transaction between transportation and the city, can be explained by "economical models''. This thesis, has been interrogated in Sivrihisar Settlement, where rural transformations lived, as explained in this thesis study, and the result processes, are suggested to be evaluated in the scope of provincial planning process.
