Urban information system implementations for urban facilities: Digital city model design for Ankara Altınova

Urban Information System (UIS) is and effective Management tool in the information and (inter)communication period of this Century. It has been attached importance to UIS applications with the same parallelism of the technological developments in order to solve the problems of local administrations and to modernize the urban management. It could be possible to increase the quality of life in cities, to carry a decision about investments, to control civil government budget by KBS as a method of information system.In this study, the required process steps and the needed methodology for UIS applications as a Management tool were determined and problems of UIS applications were clarified by looking up the successful UIS applications. Then, the reasons of determination were implemented and tested in Altınova. Tables, various digital maps and digital data provided with land satellite images were processed in ArcGis to make them spatially useful for UIS. Consequently, a sample UIS implementation was realized to constitute a model which can be used almost in every municipality of Turkey.
