The research of urban planning in bioclimatic comfort: A case study of Manisa

Recently; rapid and unplanned urbanization, non-functional and non-aesthetic city structure has brought with it, but; in the process, terms such as ecological balance, clean environment, comfort conditions have gained importance due to the increase in income level of people living in city centers and the effect of awareness that is important factors for people to choose their cities. In this process, the resulting bio comfort can be defined as the environmental conditions such as temperature, precipitation, humidity and wind is the limit values that people feel comfortable with it. Bio comfort is recently is an important concept that has been taken into consideration in urban planning studies. In this research, it is aimed to determine the suitable areas in terms of bio comfort according to the climate data of Manisa province. In this research, obtained data from meteorological stations in Manisa province were used for determining bioclimatic comfort area. The related of the values of the average temperature, relative humidity and wind for these stations is were transferred to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) using ArcMap GIS ™ 10.2 software. The bio comfort maps from the data transferred to GIS were created and that is suitable areas for bioclimatic comfort were determined. The results of the study is that is thought that it will contribute to long term urban planning studies for Manisa province.
