Urban politics: Area of Sakarya metropoliten

In this thesis, the concept of Urban Politics is tried to be explained. Because Urban Politics has quite a few dimensions and it is difficult to analyse the concept, it is here, used to define the potency - mostly at a level of city- in other words, which means local elections. The evaluation of Urban Politics meaning local elections required to propound the relation between the municipal and localization, too. Therefore the appearanceof local adminstration units and even the municipal?s, is related with the emergence of the municipal, that?s in one sense, reveals the Urban Politics at a city level, too. Likewise, in our administration history, Urban Politics has been evaluated with the foundation of municipals. Also the principlas of Urban Politics, which took place in constitution, have been emphasized and from 1963 up to now, local elections have been made.Also the concept of Urban Politics is tried to be explained with an example in this thesis, so this work on Sakarya Metropolitan area is done. After mentioning the general features of Sakarya Metropolitan area, the process of being a metropolitan area is taken into account.The general features of Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality and the other low level municipals have been taken into consideration , too. In addition to this, factors effecting the Urban Politics in Sakarya have been stressed and Sakarya local elections have been researched. At the end of this work, in Sakarya and Turkey, the study of urban politics to interfere with politics in generel is given and tried to explain this issue.
