Investigation of satisfaction of physical planning in urban residential areas: The example of Erzincan

Cities are reason for being and living space of collective life,in other words,the constitutional environment in which people remain their living;and in the evolution which they evolve up to date they sometimes have been planned and designed.Beginning from Republic period a rapid urbanization has begun in Turkey. Despite the fact that Erzincan has an ancient history,it is always remembered with its earthquakes and it has a constitution that can provide people's needs in the planning of urban areas. Especially,after the earthquake in 1992,city's physical planning was planned well and urban areas were improved. In this thesis,Erzincan city's new residential areas were analyzed according to physical planning principals.This thesis study was prepared to organize urban areas compensating people's needs and to make contribution to cities' sturdily settlement.In this way, planning of ideal regulation in urban design is aimed. In the first part of study,General informations about city planning were given. In the second part informations about urbanization and city planning were given. In the third part informations about urban places were given. The present situation concerning the reinforcement of the urban places in the town of Erzincan were made in the fourth chapter. In the fifth part the satisfaction of people living in different parts of the city center about urban places was evaluated and statistical informations were given. Various suggestions intended to the urban places in the city center according to physical planning principals,were given in the sixth part. This study researching for resource was formed by subjective comments based upon observations and one to one exchanging of ideas.
