Seismic performance of Caisson type quay walls

In this study, behaviour of caisson type quay walls under seismic activity is analysed. Therefore, tests were made with two different caisson models (H/B=2/3 ? 4/3) which were positioned on a rigid surface in a shaking table. For the first caisson model, two different backfill material (d50=2.2 ve 0.9 cm) and for the second caisson model, only one backfill material (d50=0.9 cm) were used. During all the tests, change of acceleration, soil pressure, displacement and pore pressure with time were measured with measuring devices which were located on various places on the system. Also evaluated datas were compared according to their backfill material. Changes on the backfill surface were measured with a bed profiler before and after the tests. Fluctuating and non-fluctuating components of total soil pressure were evaluated in a software called Mathcad. Data obtained from the tests were analysed and dimensionless parameters which define behaviour of caissons were presented in the thesis.
