Abstract (EN)

The power of the history of thought, which sheds light on the problems of human existence, continues to surprise the minds seeking meaning. Kierkegaard the thinker who is seen by his age as a stranger, sheds a dazzling light on the problem of "being self" of today's people with his thoughts leading the existentialist philosophy. Today, when the intensity of the studies on Kierkegaard thought and the problem of 'being oneself' is increasing, we discussed how the problem of "being self" is handled in his philosophy, Kierkegaard's effort to show the realizability of this existential purpose with his own life, and the realizability of "being self" in the Kierkegaardian sense under today's conditions, in our study. In the social, political and economic structure shaped by the inconceivable power of science and technology, the people of our age are faced with a loss of meaning in their living space and inner world in against the created the comfort, convenience and accessibility possibilities. While the truth of "being self", "being human" and "being an individual" is being forgotten, the crisis caused by the experienced loss cannot be ignored anymore. Kierkegaard calls on the people of our age to "being self" with his views that he offers within the framework of the problem of "being self" and his thoughts that extend to human psychology, highlight existence and revolt. His philosophy offers the people of our age the opportunity to "be himself" with the existence states such as "individuality, inwardness, passion, anxiety, despair, pain, freedom, loneliness, attachment, faith" in line with the aim of "being himself". The questioning of these states of existence within the conditions of the age, which have turned into an opportunity for the people of our age in line with the purpose of "being self", has revealed that the individual x needs a rebellion in a holistic context. This revolt is a revolt which makes a person turn inward in a way which appears in Kierlegaard's thought and life, forces the person to self-discover,is full of passion, irony and humor. Kierkegaard states that with the humor he reflects on his life and works, the individual creates the opportunity to withdraw and return to himself in the face of the paradoxes and 'either/or's of life within the framework of the" being self "problem. The resulting temporal and spatial distance gives the individual a new and broad perspective. The sincerity, passion and comfort created by humor help the individual to stand up to the obstacles to "being self" and see the meaning of life for himself. In Kierkegaard's existentialist philosophy in the pursuit of truth, the results we have achieved in the context of "being oneself" create the opportunity for the people of our age to "being self" the face of conditions that surround the human self, which distance one's self and lead to an absence and meaninglessness.
