Abstract (EN)
Dams are large water structures that human beings have made for storage purposes from the beginning. Dam bodies are generally designed as concrete or filling. Sealing problem in filling dams is generally provided in two ways: making clay core and covering the front with concrete. In this thesis, the options of constructing a rock fill dam with the same reservoir or the same height with clay core or with concrete on the front face are compared. For this purpose, a dam volume was designed with imaginary data selected at a location on the Bakırçay river. Parts of the reservoir such as dead volume, active volume and flood volume have been found by the methods given for this purpose in the literature. The dam body, which will provide the volume found, is considered to be clay core and the front face covered with concrete, and cost analyzes have been made for the selected dam bodies for these types. The results revealed that the clay core dam is more costly than the concrete covered dam. The study is an introduction to dam design and is expected that it will help those who will deal with this issue
