Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to analyse the relation between the identity power, the identity functions and the collective action and to investigate the extent to which the individuals are lead to collective action by their own groups. The data were collected from students of 8 universities in 7 different regions in Turkey by easy sampling. The study used both quantitative and qualitative methods. After the investigations, the conclusion could be drawn that the social justice played a moderator role in relation between the effect of identity, the identity functions and the collective action. The results have shown that, the social justice played a moderator role for the relationship between the components of identity functions like the construction function, the collective action and the actions that do not put legal responsibility on individuals. In addition, it was determined that, the social justice played a moderator role also in the relation between another components of identity functions like the adaptation and control functions and the actions that do not put legal responsibility on individuals. Moreover, it was detected that, the social justice played a moderator role in relation between the effect of identity and the actions that do put legal responsibility on individuals. The findings collected from open-end questions have shown that, the individuals identify themselves as Kurdish activist and identify themselves through political arguments (political parties, ideologies) have participated in all collective actions and in all actions that put legal responsibility on individuals and in actions that do not put legal responsibility on individuals. On the other side, it was detected that, the individuals identify themselves as student and environmentalist have stood away from all kinds of actions. Furthermore these findings have shown that individuals consider Kemalism, conservatism and patriotism as an identity have stood away from all kinds of actions that put legal responsibility on individuals. Finally, individuals that have faith oriented identity tend to participate actions that do not put legal responsibility on individuals.
