The Investigation of the effectivenes of teaching in chemistry experiments with Vee diagrams

The purpose of this study was to research the effect of Vee diagrams applications onteaching subjects of basic chemistry laboratory experiments and compare the applications oftraditional laboratory method and Vee diagrams regarding to student success. Also, in thisstudy, the effects of applications of Vee diagrams on eliminating misconseptions and attitudestoward to laboratory lessons was investigated as well.n this study, pre-test-post-test with control group model was used. The study wasapplied to two groups; experimental group (N=20) and traditional group (N=21). Whiledetermining the control and experimental group, points of basic chemistry laboratory lessonin first term and results of pre-test were considered.While Vee diagrams were applied to the experimental group, traditional laboratorymethod was applied to control group. At the end of the study, post test was performed in bothgroups and data were analyzed by using SPSS 11.0 program.As a result of the study, it was found out that the applications of Vee diagrams , whencompared to the traditional laboratory method has created positive effect on students? success,attitude toward basic chemistry laboratory lessons and conceptual change.KEY WORDS: Vee Diagrams/ Vee Maps/Vee Heuristics/ Laboratory Teaching /Chemistry Education / Teaching Strategies
