Relationship between kinetic art and jewelry: Stim collection

The term "Kinetic" derives its origin from the Ancient Greek word "kinētikós" (κινῑτῐκός), meaning "moving" or "in motion". Accordingly, Kinetic Art can be defined as an artistic approach that expresses movement by directly or indirectly using the concept of time, the fourth dimension of art. The industrialization process that gained momentum in the late 19th century caused mechanical movement and machine production to become an inseparable part of daily life. This technological transformation led artists to evaluate the world from a new perspective; phenomena such as movement and speed became central to artistic representation. Especially in the early 20th century, artists such as Russian constructivists and Italian futurists considered movement not only as a theme but also as a structural element of the work of art. Dadaism, which emerged as a reaction to the devastating effects of World War I, radically questioned the traditional structure and aesthetic norms of art; With the use of elements such as readymades, motors, light and sound, a new area of freedom emerged where movement was included in artistic expression. Pioneer artists such as Marcel Duchamp and Naum Gabo pioneered the development of interactive art forms such as kinetic art, performance art and installation during this period. This artistic transformation was not limited to traditional plastic arts; it was also reflected in disciplines such as ceramics, textiles and jewelry. Contemporary artists such as Friedrich Becker, Michael Berger and Yael Sonia contributed to the development of an interactive, playful and innovative understanding of jewelry by integrating kinetic elements into jewelry design. In line with the knowledge and understanding gained about the kinetic approach through research and studies, a kinetic jewelry collection was prepared in which the concept of "stimming", meaning self-stimulating behaviors, was used as the main theme, and the innovative and functional aspect that the kinetic approach offers to the field of jewelry design was demonstrated in practice.
